We specialize in two arts, Kuniba-Ha Shito Ryu and Kuniba Ryu Goshin-do. We also teach traditional Kobudo (Okinawan Weapons) and Jo and Hanjo. Iaido you will train in after becoming Yudansha (Black belt). Break falling (ukemi) is a big part of our training, if you know how to fall then you will know how to throw. We are known in the area for our realistic training, and our quality of training. I keep a simple training plan which consists of: Kihon, (basics) Kata (martial art shadow boxing) and Kumite (free hand fighting). In simple I teach the same way that I have been taught. Our classes are small and will remain that way to keep the high standard of quality that we hold in our classes. What our membership says about training here: Training in Traditional Martial Arts has been a life changing experience for me. I am so proud to be a member of the Hebi Ashi Dojo and to train under such a talented and dedicated teacher like Fletcher, Sensei. Osu! Tanya H. Training at the dojo is one of the few places where I feel the freedom to make mistakes without being compared or judged. This feeling, combined with the efforts of others in the dojo, gives me a drive to improve myself for the sake of being a better person, both in the Dojo and outside. Lillian L. In the short time Ive spent at the Hebi Ashi Dojo, Ive felt welcomed and a part of something special. Everyday of training is a great mental and physical challenge. Jeff C. I love the beauty and energy of our new dojo! But beyond its physical location and appearance, what I think makes Hebi Ashi Dojo truly special is the fact that what we learn there, and the friendships we make there, become integrally woven into the fabric of our lives. Deb T. I have learned just the very beginning of the versatility of the art and the versatility of kata, of mind and body, and the only limit to the art is my imagination. Joe W. No matter where I go, The Hebi Ashi Dojo will always feel like home to me.My training in the old dojo changed my life, and every time I am able to return and train in the new dojo, it is a feeling of new excitement and old familiarity wrapped into one. Chris B. The Hebi Ashi dojo is the place where I am pushed to my limits in an atmosphere that fosters respect, hard work and dedication. Lawrence L. Our new dojo is absolutely beautiful. It is everything that I might want in a dojo. Not only that, but in the few nights I've spent there, I can already feel that the energy is somehow different. MY heart pounds harder after kihon and my legs shake more after waza. I don't sense that I am pushing any harder than in our old dojo, but apparently I am, and it feels good. There is something very right about this place. Nick D. My previous training in Tae Kwon Do and American freestyle karate left me feeling frustrated because much of what I learned did not work on the bigger, stronger men I trained with. After training at the Hebi Ashi Dojo, I now know that size and strength is not the important thing. Proper technique is the key to truly being able to defend yourself. Margie W. |
